You’re building a hot rod, huh? Well, I’ve been tinkering with traditional Ford hot rods for longer than I can remember and I’ve designed my parts so that it just couldn’t be easier to use them. But, I understand that the first thing most hotrodders do is throw out the instructions. Or at least use them for kindling.
So, I had Rolo use some of the spare lumber from out behind the barn to build a Help Desk. Hopefully, you’ll find most of the answers to your questions here. Hey, I’ve been doing this for a long time and have answered more questions about this stuff than most. But, if you still have a question, don’t be afraid to drop a line to us at email@example.com
Q: I need some advice on my hot rod project. Can you help me?
A: We get this question a lot. Since we don’t have a tech desk set up, the best advice we can give is to find a buddy who’s comfortable with a wrench and get them to help. Two minds are always better than one. Also, look for the oldest guy in town who might have some jalopies out back. He’d probably already know how to fix the problem.
The HAMB is the best resource on the internet for help and advice on your hot rod project. Visit them at www.jalopyjournal.com/forum
Q: I am just able to complete my order online. Tell me, what can I do?
A: If, for some reason, you are just not able to place your order online, you may choose one of the following options:
Order a print catalog by including your name, mailing address, phone number and a money order or cashier’s check for $7.00 ($5.00 plus $2.00 shipping/handling) in an envelope sent to:
Vern Tardel “”Let Me Help You” Catalog
464 Pleasant Ave.
Santa Rosa, CA 95403
Complete the online ordering process (including your shipping subtotal), but do not go to final checkout! Instead, write the complete order with the total on a sheet of plain paper, include a cashier’s check or money order for same amount and mail the whole shootin’ match to:
464 Pleasant Ave.
Santa Rosa, CA 95403
Q: I want to talk to Vern about my car before I buy something. How can I reach him?
A: If you have a question about a part that you need answered before you can buy it, drop us a line with your email address and phone number and one of two things will happen: either we’ll answer it directly OR Vern will call you to discuss the issue.
Q: How do you figure out shipping charges?
A: All items ship from Santa Rosa, CA. The rates are based on a combination of weight and price point. We ship using both the USPS and FedEx. If you need more clarification, drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org
Q: My shipment never showed up! What gives?
A: If you never received your shipment, contact us with your name, shipping address and billing information. We’ll get to the bottom of it directly. email@example.com
Q: How long does it take to receive my order?
A: The average order will take no more than a week. You deserve to have your order filled in a timely manner, but many of our parts are handmade and sometimes it will just take longer to get them to you. Keep in mind, we’re not a large warehouse – our products are carefully chosen and carefully made. Plus, we’re a bunch of old guys. We’ve slowed down over the years.
Q: The website won’t take my order. What do I do?
A: Believe it or not, the website doesn’t have anything against you. On our end, we make sure that it’s running smoothly. We use a payment system called PayPal that is the safest, easiest way to pay for anything on the site. If you’re having problems, try a different web browser like Internet Explorer or Safari (if you use a Mac).
Q. Can I place a phone order or send a check?
A. Nope. We currently aren’t set up for phone orders or checks here at the shop, but we may consider that in the future. There simply just aren’t enough of us here to be able to run to the phone when it rings. Mostly because we’re under one of the cars.
Q. I have a question about one of your products before I order it. Who do I talk to?
A. You can drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org. Your question will be answered usually within 24 hours. It may take a day or two more, but we usually remember to turn on the computer at least every other morning and we’re getting better about that.
Q. Did you receive my order?
A. If you used PayPal and got a receipt emailed to you, then rest assured we got your order. And we’re working on filling it (see above).
Q. I’d like to chat with someone over there about hot rods. Can I call?
A. Gosh, we love nothing more than chatting about hot rods. But most of the time, we’re too busy actually working on them to talk. Tell you what: when we have an Open House, we’ll let you know and that will be the time when we let what’s left of our hair down and can spend some quality time bench racing.
Q. I’m looking for cars and parts that aren’t listed on the website. Do you sell other things?
A. Trust us when we say that as soon as we figure out how to get a product to the masses, we list it on the site for you to buy. We’re always working on new projects, so check back often to see what we’ve added.
Q. I’d like to return my order. What’s your policy on returns?
A. Before you return anything, drop us a line at email@example.com and tell us what the problem is. We’ll then figure out the best solution and take it on a case-by-case basis. Please be warned, unless the return is due to our error, there is a 20% restocking fee for all returns.
Q. You took my money instantly, but I haven’t received my order yet. What gives?
A. Since we use PayPal to process your order, PayPal will debit your account immediately. Now, we let your money sit in the PayPal account until we know that your order has shipped. Only then do we pull your money from the PayPal account. Also, that makes it easier if and when we ever need to refund your money.
Q. It seems that there are problems with your website. Can you fix them?
A. Drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know specifically what you’re having problems with. We’ll take it from there and find an answer to the problem just as fast as possible.
Q. I have some old stuff that I know Vern would be interested in buying. Can I sell it to him?
A. Look – we made this site to sell stuff, not buy stuff! However, if you’ve got neat old pieces that you’re sure we’ll love, send us an email with a description and a picture and we’ll be sure to consider it.
